Frequently Asked Questions

We can introduce you to the secrets of
genealogical research by sharing our expert knowledge and insight,
provide copies of genealogical materials for your analysis or help
you find the materials that you are looking for. We may also help you
present information about your family in the form of a full or
partical family tree. This will also include organising the
linked information about archival records or/and copies of archival
records about your family. We can prepare this in a leading,
free-access genealogy software so you will be able to further modify your tree. It’s all up to your needs, your time and order.

Our research is based on birth, marriage and death records preserved in state or church archives. While not all of these records have survived the war period in Poland, there are also other valuable sources that could be examined in genealogical research. Among those are censuses, guild files, property and inheritance documents. We can use all of these in our research, however the access to the property and inheritance documents, kept in courts and state archives, can sometimes be limited. Our team will also perform searches through records (both digital and physical) of various public and private institutions as well as in libraries.

Each individual family history is a unique adventure, a story waiting to be told. Discovering the aspects of these exciting tales can take anything from hours, weeks or even months and can involve many different sources and archives. Usually our work is split into stages. Our dedicated team will work tirelessly with the information that you give them to reveal all the unknowns, however the duration of the project will be dependant on the depth and breadth of the project.

The depth and duration of the reseach dictates the cost. Initially, we provide you with a free consultation where we will find out the key information we need to get started. As each family history is unique, we provide a personalised quote with a breakdown of the anticipated hours and any other expenses. Larger projects may be split into multiple stages. If you are happy to proceed we ask for a deposit (usually 1/3 of the total invoice) which will be held on account , with the balance due at the completion of the stage or project. Once we have completed each stage of the research we will provide you with a detailed report of our findings along with copies of any documents we have obtained, then if you would like to uncover even more of your family’s historical adventure, we would be happy to provide a new quote for any continuation works.

In the unlikely event that we can find no information on one aspect or branch of your family tree, we will let you know at an early stage and you can then decide whether to continue with the other branches or end the discovery. If you decide that you do not wish to continue, we will provide you with an invoice for our work up until that point.

What are these „other expenses”? These are usually small amounts that allow our expert team to efficiently and comprehensively conduct their research. Examples include: archive admission fees, travel costs, the cost to obtain a copies of records, record access fees.

We are based in a historic region that used to be called West Galicia (Galicja Zachodnia), an Austrian-Hungarian territory before 1918 (the lands that were taken from Poland by the Habsburg monarchy at the end of XVIII century) with main cities: Krakow, Tarnow, Rzeszow, Nowy Sacz, Jaslo.

Physical research can be easily conducted throughout Southern Poland. Research in other territories of Poland and Western Ukraine (former East Galicia) are possible according to individual arrangements. There is an unlimited scope for search in sources available on-line and in libraries.

If you need any consultation, help with document’s translation and/or some support with your research, we believe we can deal with that! Just contact us and ask for a free 20-minutes on-line meeting and we will see what your problem is and how we can help.
